Glossary

Wood Density:
Relates to the bone-dry weight per volume of green wood.
Fibre Length:
The length of the fibre specific to the species of wood fibre.
Pulp Yield:
Pulping yield based on bone-dry wood for unbleached kraft.
Bulk:
A function of the extent of collapse and conformability of the fibres during sheet formation.
Tensile:
The length of paper which will just support its own weight when hung freely from one end.
Burst Index:
The pressure required to rupture a paper sample clamped over a rubber diaphragm.
Tear Index:
The loss of energy related to the force required by a falling pendulum to continue the tear.
