Great Northern Timber started shipments of coniferous and deciduous roundwood products to Europe in 1988. The company built the chipping and export facility in 1997 to sell hardwood chips to Asia. Since 1997, GNT has exported coniferous and deciduous chips to Europe, Asia, Central Canada and the USA as well as marketed roundwood forest products within North America.

Great Northern Timber export facility is strategically located on the Atlantic Ocean to serve Asia, Europe and North American markets. The port has sufficient draught to handle the latest generation of wood chip carriers.

GNT engages an independent testing agency to determine the degree of conformity with the target chip specification. Chips are tested for moisture content, size classification, bark and rot content.
