SPECIES:

Accepted species includes all hardwood species with the exception of aspen (poplar).

LENGTH:
|
- Eight Foot
- Random length (10-18 feet)

DIAMETER:
|
- Maximum diameter 45 cm. (18 in.) incl. butt flare and swells outside bark.
- Minimum diameter 9 cm. (3.5 in.) outside bark.

FRESHNESS:
|
- Wood must be fresh cut.

|
TRIMMING:
|
Knots and branches must be cut flush to the stem; ends must be cut square. Forked stems are unacceptable.

ROT:
|
Wood with greater than 33% heart rot or hollow heart will be rejected. Holes in the tree heart less than 33% of the diameter are acceptable and will not be deducted. Dead stems or bolts are unacceptable. Heart rot less than 33% of the diameter will have scale deductions.

CONTAMINATION:
|
Wood must be free of rocks, mud, brush, metal, rubber, plastics, fuels, and oils, etc. Burnt or charred wood is unacceptable.

SWEEP:
|
Maximum sweep accepted; each bolt must be capable of being placed within a cylinder of a diameter 30 cm (12 in.) larger than the maximum diameter of the bolt. The maximum cylinder is 76 cm. (30 in.). Goose neck crooks are unacceptable.
